Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the Wimbledon warm-up tournament in Birmingham with an illness. The Russian is feeling drained after a long long clay-court stint that included a title run in Rome and a semifinal showing at Roland Garros. She started to feel ill early during the second week of the French Open. China’s Li Na defeated her in the semifinals on Thursday. The 2004 Wimbledon champion will not ask for a wild card into the tournament in Eastbourne. French Open seminfinalist Marion Bartoli also pulled out of the event.
