Simona Halep will reunite with coach Darren Cahill for the 2020 season. The two-time Grand Slam champion took to Twitter to make the announcement.

“I have some exciting news to share with you,” Halep announced to her social media followers. “After a year without him on my team, I’m happy to announce that Darren will be back by my side next season."

Halep and Cahill had parted ways at the end of the 2018 season, as the Australian wanted to spend more time with his family. It ended a successful three-year partnership, which saw the Romanian lift her maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open.

"I’ve decided to take a 12 month break from coaching to be home more for support as our children enter important stages of their lives with the final year of high school, sports and college preparations all becoming more time consuming," Cahill wrote.

In July, Halep defeated 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in straights sets to win her second major, at Wimbledon.

The Romanian is currently ranked No. 6.
