Jack Sock wins his first $100,000 USTA Challenger in Tiburon, California with a 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (3) victory over Mischa Zverev. The 20-year-old American pushed his ranking up to No. 165.
“Big step in the right direction. With those (ranking) points, winning a Challenger is a big deal,” Sock told the *Journal Star*.
Sock will play three more Challengers on college campuses at Virginia (Oct. 29-Nov. 4), Tennessee (Nov. 5-11) and Illinois (Nov. 12-18). “These are the official visits I never took,” he said.
