Wawrinka has shown marked improvements in the post-US Open swing, reaching the Moselle Open semifinals and upsetting Casper Ruud in Basel.

This is Wawrinka's third stint with Norman, who first coached the Swiss ahead of his run to the 2014 Australian Open title. Under Norman, Wawrinka earned two more major victories at 2015 Roland Garros and 2016 US Open.
