Belinda Bencic not only maintained her winning record against Top 10 players on Saturday, she hit a milestone with it, defeating No. 6-ranked Maria Sakkari in the semifinals of Berlin, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-4, for the 30th Top 10 win of her career.

She’s now 30-25 in her career against Top 10 players.

“I thought that was an incredible match,” she told WTATennis.com.

“We both kind of pushed really hard, we both didn’t give each other anything. I think it was high quality. Of course we held our serves as much as we could, and I really felt like we put on a show out there.”

It was Bencic’s fourth Top 10 win on grass, her first three coming at Eastbourne in 2015 (No. 5-ranked Caroline Wozniacki), Wimbledon in 2018 (No. 6-ranked Caroline Garcia) and Mallorca in 2019 (No. 6-ranked Angelique Kerber).

The No. 17-ranked Swiss has the sixth-most career Top 10 wins among the current Top 20, the only five women ahead of her all being former No. 1s—Kerber, Victoria Azarenka, Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova and Garbine Muguruza.
