Bianca Andreescu’s time away from tennis seems to have helped as she rolled to her best win in more than two-and-a-half years in Madrid on Sunday, defeating Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, in just 69 minutes.

Andreescu’s win over the No. 8-ranked Collins was her first win over a Top 10 player since she beat No. 8-ranked Serena Williams in the US Open final on September 7th, 2019.

It was also Andreescu’s first Top 10 win on clay.

The Canadian is now 9-5 against Top 10 players, winning her first eight such match-ups, then losing her next five, but now getting back on the winning track.
