Daniil Medvedev is one of the best hard-court players in the world—and he knows it, famously proclaiming “I know what is hard court, I’m a specialist” at Indian Wells this year—and tonight at the US Open, he continued to back that up with numbers.

Medvedev recorded the 250th hard-court win of his career in Flushing Meadows on Thursday night, battling past Australia’s Christopher O’Connell in the second round, 6-2, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-2.

The 2021 US Open champion is the 44th man in the Open Era to reach that milestone, and just the 14th active men’s player (not including John Isner, who has 351 but just retired today).

ACTIVE MEN WITH 250+ HARD-COURT WINS (tour-level):
677: Novak Djokovic
516: Rafael Nadal
495: Andy Murray
360: Marin Cilic
355: Richard Gasquet
354: Gael Monfils
328: Stan Wawrinka
287: Kei Nishikori
263: Fernando Verdasco
260: Milos Raonic
261: Grigor Dimitrov
252: Roberto Bautista Agut
250: Kevin Anderson
250: Daniil Medvedev

Medvedev, who was born in 1996, is just the third man born in 1990 or later to reach that milestone, after Raonic (who was born in 1990) and Dimitrov (who was born in 1991).

He's the only man currently under 30 to hit that number.

Of Medvedev's 20 career ATP titles, 18 of them have come on hard courts—including his first Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open.
