World No. 1 Iga Swiatek powered past Daria Kasatkina in the semifinals of Roland Garros today, 6-2, 6-1, to not only reach the second Grand Slam final of her career, but to continue building on her absolute monster of a winning streak.

It was the 2020 Roland Garros champion’s 34th win in a row, which ties the second-longest women’s winning streak since 2000.

LONGEST WOMEN’S WINNING STREAKS SINCE 2000

  • 35: Venus Williams in 2000 (won Wimbledon, Stanford, San Diego, New Haven, US Open and Olympics… streak snapped by Davenport in final of Linz)
  • 34: Serena Williams in 2013 (won Miami, Charleston, two Billie Jean King Cup matches, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros… streak snapped by Lisicki in 4th Rd of Wimbledon)
  • 34: Iga Swiatek in 2022 (won Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, two Billie Jean King Cup matches, Stuttgart and Rome… currently through to final of Roland Garros)

Swiatek’s win over the No. 20-ranked Kasatkina was also her 13th straight win over a Top 20 player, all of those wins coming in this 34-match winning streak.

She’s also won 54 of the last 56 sets she’s played, which dates back to Indian Wells.

“I just wanted to be aggressive from the beginning and lead the match, and not let Daria play her game,” said Swiatek, who blasted 22 winners in the 64-minute match.

“I’m really happy that I could play my tactics.”

Swiatek will play either Coco Gauff or Martina Trevisan in the final.
