World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has written his name even deeper into the history books today, recording the 1,000th win of his career by defeating No. 10-ranked Casper Ruud, 6-4, 6-3, in the semifinals of the Masters 1000 event in Rome.

He’s just the fifth man in the entire Open Era to reach the 1,000-win milestone.

MOST CAREER WINS FOR A MAN IN OPEN ERA (tour-level):
1,274: Jimmy Connors
1,251: Roger Federer
1,068: Ivan Lendl
1,051: Rafael Nadal
1,000: Novak Djokovic

In terms of winning percentage, he’s second—and nearly first—in the Open Era.

BEST WINNING PERCENTAGE FOR A MAN IN OPEN ERA (tour-level):
83.2%: Rafael Nadal (1,051-212)
83.1%: Novak Djokovic (1,000-203)
82.4%: Bjorn Borg (654-140)
82.0%: Roger Federer (1,251-275)
81.8%: Jimmy Connors (1,274-283)

The difference between first and second place for winning percentage is actually less than a tenth of a percent—to four decimal places, Nadal is 83.2146% and Djokovic is 83.1255%. That record could switch hands at Roland Garros.
