World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas has become the first man to win 25 tour-level matches in 2022, after defeating former Top 10 player Lucas Pouille, 6-3, 6-4, in his opening match at the Masters 1000 event in Madrid on Wednesday night.

"It was a great start, a great beginning to this tournament," said the Greek, who hit 18 winners to 14 unforced errors in the match.

This is almost exactly the same match-winning pace he was at in 2021—last year, his opening win in Madrid was his 27th tour-level win of the year.
