PRAGUE(AP) The Czech Republic will be without Radek Stepanek for next month's Davis Cup quarterfinal against Chile.
Stepanek has been ruled out of the Chile match because of a left knee injury. He is not playing at Wimbledon.
No. 90 Jan Hajek will join No. 13 Tomas Berdych in the singles at the July 9-11 Davis Cup tie in Coquimbo on clay.
Stepanek, ranked 25th, helped the Czechs reach last year's final, where they lost 5-0 to Spain.
On Thursday, Czech Davis Cup captain Jaroslav Navratil also chose doubles specialists Lukas Dlouhy and Frantisek Cermak to his team.
The Czechs beat Belgium 4-1 in the previous round while Chile defeated Israel 4-1.
