TC Plus Match of the Day: Jeremy Chardy vs. Thomas Fabbiano, Istanbul

On Friday, Frenchman Jeremy Chardy will face Thomas Fabbiano in the quarterfinals in Istanbul. With both players competing at a high level right now, it's only fitting that this match is the Tennis Channel Plus Match of the Day.

Chardy comes into this match after defeating Dusan Lajovic 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the round of 16. The Frenchman also happened to play some solid tennis in Monte Carlo, where he qualified for the main draw before losing to Richard Gasquet in the round of 64.

Fabbiano has also raised his game as of late. The 28-year-old faced second-seeded Damir Dzumur in the round of 16, and he ended up winning 6-2, 0-6, 6-2 in an hour and 42 minutes. In his opening-round match, he easily defeated Mikhail Youzhny, 6-1, 6-1.

Now the Italian will need to figure out a way to defeat Chardy, but that's not going to be easy. The 31-year-old has a well-rounded game and knows how to get the job done on clay.

With this being the first meeting between the two players, expect them to take a little while to feel each other out. After that, this match should end up being one of the best of the tournament.
