HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) Eight-time Grand Slam winner Ivan Lendl has brought his talent and famous focus to the International Junior Tennis Academy.

The instructional school in Hilton Head Island, S.C., began last August with eight students and may triple that amount when the new semester starts next month. Lendl says the venture allows him to teach students how to manage more than just their tennis game.

The academy will have fulltime academics and help students learn about proper fitness, nutrition and the mental aspect of sports. That was one of Lendl's strengths, which helped him to a then-record 270 weeks at No. 1 in the mid-1980s and a Hall of Fame career.

Lendl plans to be closely involved in teaching tennis during his stays.
