In his post-playing days, Andy Roddick is filling his time by ... testifying on behalf of other tennis pros so as to see their doping sentences reduced. Or he's doing that for at least one of his former colleagues, Dimitar Kutrovsky. No doubt the Bulgarian has little to offer Roddick in return (in the words of Sinead O'Connor, "I don't want what I haven't got"), and so this move by Roddick is another in a long line of commendable actions to mitigate his sometimes surly demeanor.
Roddick surely does such noble things with no expectation of accolades, and yet this month he receives plaudits, even apologies, from—of all places—a Christian magazine, that for "slander and mockery" aimed at him over time by one of its editors. Interesting. And thus Roddick finds himself now testifying to the character of another and receiving the warm apologies of one who testifies to another belief entirely. Funny how this world works. He's not Father Teresa yet, but the Spin is excited to see what he makes of his post-tennis existence.
