The Baseline Player of the Week: Alex de Minaur

Alex de Minaur defeated Adrian Mannarino in the final of Zhuhai to become the fifth player in 2019 to win at least three ATP titles.

The 20-year-old Aussie is now sitting in the Top 5 of season title leaders alongside Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Daniil Medvedev and Dominic Thiem (all with three). Rafael Nadal sits atop the leaderboard with four titles.

De Minaur beat the 31-year-old Mannarino, 7-6 (4), 6-4, losing all 12 of his break points before the final point of the match. It has been a breakthrough year for De Minaur who won the Sydney International and the Atlanta Open this season. The victory sees him leapfrogging Nick Kyrgios to become the highest-ranked Australian.

He's now ranked No. 25 in the world. His next challenge will come quickly against Lloyd Harris in the first round of Tokyo on Tuesday.
