You remember that Ali C was trying to inspire me to brave the overnight queues for Wimbledon with her?  Well, I did not, but not only did she do it herself, she took her little brother and his friend.  What a big sis, huh?  She even woke up early to take this beautiful picture of the boys still asleep.

And yes, for those wondering, even in summer those sleeping bags are a good idea.  I was downright cold by the end of the evening on the day I went; it was breezy, and once the sun dipped, a long-sleeved shirt barely cut it.  One little girl who had apparently refused to carry her jacket was simply freezing and was clinging to her dad for warmth!

A few notes from Ali about her day:

They had a full day.

It's a great photo.  I love that racquet on the ground.  Says a lot about the moment.  Speaking of Venus' clothing line, it will be interesting to see what happens now that Steve & Barry's has had to file for bankruptcy.  I actually quite liked the look of the clothes (never saw them in person), so I hope she keeps something going in that field.

I have a funny little story for you guys today.  I'm on the Associate Board of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, and we had an informal fundraiser last night as the sponsored charity at a local bar's trivia night.  The sports round was excruciatingly hard, but the humiliating part was that there were two tennis questions.  And with my team looking expectantly at me, I could answer... neither.

1) How many times did Martina Navratilova defeat Chris Evert at Wimbledon?
2) In what year did Steffi Graf retire?

Now, in my defense, both are a little off my radar.  (1) is a little early for me, and (2) happened while I was in college and had no television, and basically didn't follow sports for four years.

However, I redeemed myself with (10): In Shakespeare's Henry V, what sport's balls [insert obligatory drunken hooting and hollering] are referenced?

Remember this post?

As always, go off-topic below and unwind a bit.  Oh, and 'tis the season of US hardcourts!  So once again, I appeal to you to email me if you are attending a tournament and would be interested in possibly getting together with other TW attendees.  If there's any critical mass at all, I'll be happy to put you in touch.
