!Kate & Pete Hey there, TWibe! The newest Federers are today's hot topic, so feel free to use this space to chat about Charlene and Myla (unless you've already tired of it). My thoughts? First off, I'm thrilled for Roger and Mirka. Second, how funny is it that we all predicted a boy (a boy), and here come twin girls! That Roger's just full of surprises. And finally, I can't wait to see pics.
Last week's TW Music Festival was a hit - many thanks to everyone for participating and for opening our eyes to so many different artists/genres of music! I was hoping to compile the submissions and create a TW playlist, but I haven't found the time to get around to it. (Lleytsie, you were planning on starting on that, too, right? Any luck?) Maybe in the next few weeks. Regardless, I recommend bookmarking the post so you can easily revisit it whenever you're itching for some new tunes.
Important TWibe announcements:
(1) Pete passed along this week's photo. Here's the caption: This is a picture of former Tennis Magazine intern Kate GIllam of Chapel Hill (yep, she's a Tarheel), with a fat old unidentified journalist at Wimbledon, on the day of the epic men's final of this year. Rosia took the photo - Kate happened to be in London, on another internship (not bad work if you can get it!).
Pete deserves a scolding for talking about our fearless leader like that. (Hee.) Lovely photo! I'm also digging that Wimbledon bag ...
(2) This Sunday, the 26th, marks both the birthday and TW anniversary of our irreplaceable (and irrepressible!) Jacko! I can't believe he's only been around for a year - how did TW ever get along without him? As for the birthday, we all wish Jacko an exciting year. Maybe he'll finally get to see his tennis faves live ...
As I mentioned last week, the TW Music Festival was only the first of our YouTube events. Pete and I thought it'd be interesting to do a YouTube series, asking you to share videos from different categories over different weeks. Considering the ubiquity of the site, I figured the idea would go over well. (Who among us goes even a day without checking YouTube? Aside from Gmail, Facebook, and of course, TW, it's probably the website I visit most often. The reasons vary - from looking up a song that struck my fancy on my drive to work to scrambling to catch scenes from the the previous night's much-ballyhooed UFC fight to reliving an old Australian Open trophy ceremony after being reminded about it on a certain tennis blog!)
So what's this week's category? Drumroll, please ... today's Deuce Club is devoted to YouTube tennis videos! You had to figure it was coming, right?
Just like last week, I'll start things off by sharing some of my favorite YouTube tennis vids, then it'll be your turn to do the same. Since the music festival is still fresh in my memory, my selections are both tennis- and music-related. Nothing better than a sport-music collision, in my opinion.
Gilles tickling the ivories
(Of course I had to include a Gilles video.) This is at turns surprising, sweet, and downright hysterical. Who knew he could play the piano? Or that he was such a character?! The best part is the fact that he learned this theme in the first place.

Merry Christmas from the pros!
I never tire of seeing tennis pros in this context - off the court, out of their element, poking fun at themselves. Too bad the powers-that-be don't make these for every holiday. (My MVP is Marian Vajda. He had me in stitches.)
