While many of you were asleep, I was in Stamford, CT, providing live commentary for NBCOlympics.com. That is, until it started raining. As I type this, it's almost 6 a.m., and I've been waiting for the rain to stop since four. Thankfully, there is a pot of coffee and a dish of sweets nearby. But it's become all too clear that I'm not going anywhere, anytime soon. And that includes "to bed."
Full disclosure aside, you should really check out NBC's online coverage. Tennis fans always complain that their sport is never on TV, but ironically, that's the best thing that could have happened for the Olympics. The online medium gives viewers three matches to choose from, and that should be the case for most of the week. If you've never watched the French Open on DirecTV (where you could also pick your match), you can experience this luxury online this week.
8 a.m. Update
I decided to head over to the ITF's website, since they run the Olympic tennis event, to see if there was any new information about the weather. I found this note here:
6:54 a.m.: Ok, that's it. All play has been cancelled for today. It's been an interesting one and we're back for more tomorrow. See you then.
I didn't see this until 7:54 a.m.
Hopefully tonight will have better weather and exciting tennis. And on that note, good night (morning)!
