Are you one of those players who likes pace but has trouble against people who push, dink, slice, or hit softly? When your opponent hits hard you have less time to run, which causes you to move quickly to retrieve the ball, and less time to think. Yet that doesn’t mean you should move more slowly, or move less, when the ball is hit softly. Just because you have more time, don’t waste it. When your opponent hits a softer ball, or one with more spin, you need to take more steps and keep your feet moving for a longer period of time so you are both in position and not stiff at contact. Do this and you will find that your error rate will drop and as your footwork improves.
