Diana Shnaider will try to extend her winning streak in WTA finals to five in a row in Monterrey.
The 21-year-old left-hander came into Monterrey having lost five of her last six matches on the tour, and dropping from No. 12 to No. 22 on the WTA rankings in that time. But she's found her mojo again this week, reaching her first final of the year—and at a WTA 500 event, no less. She went 4-0 in WTA finals last year, capturing her first four WTA titles at Hua Hin, Bad Homburg, Budapest and Hong Kong, and she'll try to extend her winning streak in WTA finals to five in a row today.
The second semifinal was suspended due to rain last night and will conclude today. Then, the final.
Ekaterina Alexandrova was serving at 2-all, 0-15 against Marie Bouzkova when play was called for the night. For Shnaider, either opponent would give her a shot at revenge—she's 0-1 in her career against Alexandrova, falling to her countrywoman on the green clay of Charleston earlier this year, 6-2, 6-1, and 1-2 in her career against Bouzkova, including a 6-2, 7-6 (5) loss in the pair's only 2025 meeting just a few weeks ago on the hard courts of Montreal.

Botic van de Zandschulp and Marton Fucsovics will square off for the ATP title in Winston-Salem.
The No. 92-ranked Dutchman and No. 94-ranked Hungarian were two of the last direct acceptances into the main draw, but they're also the last two players standing at the ATP 250 event after taking out a total of six seeded players between them—three each. While Fucsovics will be going for his third career ATP title, having won a pair of clay-court crowns in Geneva in 2018 and Bucharest in 2024, Van de Zandschulp is chasing his first ATP title, having finished runner-up in his two previous finals in Munich in 2022 and 2023. He leads Fucsovics 2-1 in their head-to-head, so could it be third time lucky today?
