Three tour-level tournaments handed out trophies Saturday, but two are still up for grabs in Washington D.C.

While the combined 500-level event wraps up this weekend, Montreal and Toronto see their main draws begin. All of the action can be streamed throughout the day on the Tennis Channel app.

Leylah Fernandez seeks her biggest WTA title in D.C. as Anna Kalinskaya bids for first ever

The left-hander has lived on the edge en route to the championship, first taking out top seed Jesscia Pegula 7-5 in the third to reach the quarterfinals and following that Top 10 win up two rounds later by overcoming a set and 5-3 deficit to edge third seed Elena Rybakina in a decisive tiebreaker. Her final-round opponent, Kalinskaya, alternatively has won all eight sets she’s played—notably cooling off Emma Raducanu in her semifinal win. Fernandez prevailed, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, to claim their only previous meeting more four years ago in Guadalajara.

Davidovich Fokina chases inaugural ATP title against Alex de Minaur at DC Open

The Spaniard has been on a roll in the nation’s capital, backing up his late-win over top-seeded Taylor Fritz by dismissing Ben Shelton in straights. Davidovich Fokina hopes to overturn a 0-3 mark in tour-level finals, with two of those losses coming in the early part of this season that included holding championship points in Delray Beach (l. to Kecmanovic). De Minaur on the other hand, is a win away from celebrating a 10^th career crown. The Australian will be a tough out, leading all ATP players with 20 hard-court wins so far in 2025.

Bianca Andreescu, Victoria Mboko star at home on opening day of Montreal

There’s no shortage of intriguing matchups on the order of play here. One of the year’s fastest rising talents in Mboko meets Kimberly Birrell before Andreescu headlines evening match play with a clash of former major champions against Barbora Krejcikova. Local favorites Marina Stakusic and Rebecca Marino will also step onto Centre Court, as will 20-year-old Alexandra Eala when she faces fellow lefty Marketa Vondrousova.

Joao Fonseca set for Toronto debut under the lights after Vasek Pospisil plays potential career-ender

The first round of the expanded 12-day Masters 1000 event gets underway with a mix of familiar and fresh faces. Frenchmen Gael Monfils and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard factor into the day session’s offerings, along with Americans Reilly Opelka and Learner Tien. Wild card Pospisil and Fonseca are the main attraction of Center Court’s night cap, each awaiting qualifiers yet to be placed. The Brazilian is contesting just his sixth 1000-level event, while Pospisil closes his career with a 44th appearance.

Double duty required for whomever wants to take home Zug Challenger crown

Just one game between the two semifinals was completed Saturday, as persistent rain washed out play. Weather permitting, fourth seed Harold Mayot resumes against Stefanos Sakellaridis leading 1-0 ahead of a final-four meeting between Lukas Klein and Switzerland’s own Jakub Paul.
