Top seed Emma Navarro will kick off her campaign at the WTA 500 event in Monterrey.

After a strong showing at Wimbledon, reaching the fourth round—and taking out former champions Petra Kvitova and Barbora Krejcikova along the way—it's been a tough summer for Navarro, as she's lost three of her last four matches since the tour switched back to hard courts. But she's played well in Mexico this year, winning another WTA 500 event in Merida in March, and she'll look to keep that momentum going today as she kicks off her Monterrey campaign against fellow American Alycia Parks.

Two more Top 20 players—and four former Top 20 players—are also in action as all eight round-of-16 matches take place in Monterrey today.

Joining the No. 11-ranked Navarro on the schedule today will be Ekaterina Alexandrova, who just hit a new career-high ranking of No. 14 this week, and Beatriz Haddad Maia, who's ranked No. 20 this week. A number of other former Top 20 players—Donna Vekic, Leylah Fernandez, Diana Shnaider and Elise Mertens—are also in action on a packed day of play.

Sebastian Korda will try to reach the quarterfinals in Winston-Salem in his first event back from injury.

The American had been out since Roland Garros due to a stress fracture in his right shin, but he's back in action in Winston-Salem this week, winning his first match back a few days ago against the Czech Republic's Vit Kopriva, 6-3, 6-4. Today, he'll open play on Stadium court with a first-time meeting against Poland's Kamil Majchrzak, hoping to reach his third quarterfinal of the year—and first since Miami in March.

The entire round of 16 takes place at the ATP 250 event today.

Korda and Majchrzak are just two of 16 players battling it out for eight quarterfinal spots today. With Top 2 seeds Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tallon Griekspoor going out in the second round, Luciano Darderi, Gabriel Diallo and Lorenzo Sonego are the highest seeds remaining at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5. Also among the Wednesday line-up are former world No. 9 Roberto Bautista Agut and former world No. 18 Sebastian Baez.

Top seed Liudmila Samsonova tries to reach her sixth quarterfinal of the year in Cleveland.

The world No. 19 will take on China's Wang Yafan in one of six second-round matches at the WTA 250 event today, a line-up that also includes three former Top 30 players—former No. 21s Sorana Cirstea and Jil Teichmann and former No. 23 Katie Boulter. Cirstea and Teichmann will actually play each other, with the winner potentially playing Samsonova next. The only two Americans left in the draw—Ann Li and Iva Jovic—play each other today, with the 17-year-old Jovic going for a big milestone, as she tries to move through to the first WTA quarterfinal of her career.
