There was a revolving door at the top of the WTA tour this season, and it rarely stopped turning. The nine biggest tournaments had nine different winners—Serena Williams at the Australian Open, Elena Vesnina at Indian Wells, Johanna Konta at Miami, Simona Halep at Madrid, Jelena Ostapenko at the French Open, Garbine Muguruza at SW19, Sloane Stephens at Flushing Meadows, Caroline Garcia at Beijing and Caroline Wozniacki at the WTA Finals.

On top of that, there were five different No. 1s—Serena Williams, Angelique Kerber, Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep. It's not lonely at the top for these players.
