Thursday was filled with thrilling grass-court upsets and performances. Many top players fell but some were able to fight through the trend. These are the Top 5 photos from the action-packed day.

1. Yulia Putintseva came to play against Naomi Osaka in Birmingham. Putintseva looked eager and up for the challenge in the second-round matchup, while Osaka seemed to have little energy. Putintseva took full advantage in her 6-2, 6-3 victory over the world No. 1 and with Ashleigh Barty advancing to the quarterfinals, Osaka is at risk of dropping from her No.1 spot. The Australian can leapfrog Osaka if she wins the title.
