Top 5 photos, US Open Day 13: Bianca's brilliance; mixed champs repeat

On Saturday, a 19-year-old Canadian made major history and a familiar mixed doubles team tasted victory. Here are the Top 5 photos from Day 13 at the US Open.

Both Bianca Andreescu and Serena Williams came out of the blocks in the women's final with intent and desire. Here, Williams wins an aggressive point at the net.

For the majority of the match, Andreescu was as cool as a cucumber in her major final debut. The No. 15 seed entered the clash having won her past 13 matches.

After seeing a 5-1 lead slip in the second set, Andreescu held her nerve, denying Williams a shot at a second set tiebreaker by sealing a 6-3, 7-5 win. The Canadian will break into the Top 5 as a result of winning her first major, and third title this season following victories in Indian Wells and Toronto.

With her victory, Andreescu became the first Canadian to capture a major singles title and first teenager since 19-year-old Maria Sharapova won at Flushing Meadows 13 years ago. Andreescu is also the first player born in the 2000s to join the Grand Slam winner's club.

Champions again! Jamie Murray and Bethanie Mattek-Sands retained the mixed doubles crown with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Chan Hao-Ching and Michael Venus. Murray has won this trophy three years running, having partnered Martina Hingis to the title in 2017 over Chan and Venus.
