Tweets of the Week: Serena talks Ferguson; HOF'er Dodo Cheney passes

This week's installment of Tweets of the Week starts sober and ends with the usual rapier wit and verve. First things first: Serena Williams alludes to the grand-jury decision in Ferguson, Missouri, not to indict police officer Darren Wilson after he shot Michael Brown 12 times, allegedly in self-defense.

Dorothy "Dodo" Cheney passed away at age 98, and the likes of Pam Shriver and Randy Walker commemorated her illustrious career, which included a spot in the Tennis Hall of Fame and a role as the first woman to win what became the Australian Open.

Here's the latest, greatest Throwback Photo of the Week. Long before the World Tour Finals kerfuffle and Davis Cup title, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka were mere prodigies.

A week removed from the occurrence, Federer revealed his so-called #victorywound from falling down upon sealing the Davis Cup deal in France. (Did you miss that entirely Federerian fall-down move of his? Relive it here.)

And speaking of vintage tennis, Ivo Karlovic has a rather concise answer as to when the greatest serve-and-volley men's tennis was put on display. (To note, Goran Ivanisevic won the title on indoor carpet.)

Music maven Andrea Petkovic, meanwhile, revealed herself to be a fan of rock band Emery, which last year started its own winkingly named label, Bad Christian Records.

Doesn't it seem as if the 2014 season just ended? It does, because it did. But behold, ye tennis fans with insatiable appetites: A new season is nigh.

And there have been a lot of selfies and team-spirit photos in light of the Champions Tennis League in India and, now, the International Premier Tennis League in a few Asian countries. Take this, for instance:
