Chris Evert and Greg Norman officially tied the knot last weekend at a private island resort after more than a year of courtship, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The wedding came as no surprise as the couple, who became engaged in December 2007, was due to marry in June, but on American soil. The highly-publicized nuptials, however, were moved to Paradise Island in the Bahamas to avoid excessive media exposure. The duo are said to be avoiding the cameras because of an exclusive deal with a magazine.

The two-day affair was said to be worthy of two sporting giants, with no expense spared.

Norman supposedly spent more than $2 million to rent out the entire One and Only One Ocean Club to protect their privacy, a tactic employed by many celebrities around the world.

Guests of the sunset ceremony reportedly included former U.S. President Bill Clinton, singers Gwen Stefani and Kenny Loggins, and tennis legend Martina Navratilova.

It is the third marriage for Evert and the second for Norman, both 53 years of age. The couple makes its home at a 28,000 sq ft Venetian villa in Palm Beach, Florida.
