DUESSELDORF, Germany(AP) The United States lost both matches to Sweden on Tuesday at the World Team Cup, with Andreas Vinciguerra beating Robby Ginepri 7-5, 6-4 and Robin Soderling defeating Sam Querrey 6-2, 6-2.

The Americans will attempt to recover at Wednesday's doubles of the round-robin tournament. Eight teams are split into two groups, with the winner of each meeting in Saturday's final.

Ginepri lost to an opponent ranked 599 places below him at No. 657. After a series of knee injuries, Vinciguerra is playing on the ATP Tour for the first time since October 2006.

I've been up in both of my matches and haven't been able to close out the set when I've served for it,'' Ginepri said.So I've got to look at what I'm doing there and try and construct some game plans.''

By beating Querrey, Soderling won for the 11th straight time in Duesseldorf. In 2008, he became only the third player in the history of the tournament to win all four singles and four doubles matches he contested. Soderling added to his total this week with two more wins against France.

Also in the Red Group on Tuesday, Rainer Schuettler got the 300th victory of his career by beating Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-4 to give host nation Germany a 1-0 lead over France. Simon had won all four of their previous meetings, played on hard court.

In the Blue Group, Juan Martin Del Potro beat Andrea Seppi 6-3, 6-4 to give Argentina a 1-0 lead over Italy. Serbia defeated Russia 2-0 when Janko Tipsarevic beat Stanislav Vovk 6-2, 6-4 and Viktor Troicki downed Evgeny Korolev 6-2, 6-2.
