Venus Williams has pulled out of next week's event in Montreal. Williams has not played since taking part in some World TeamTennis matches after Wimbledon, having also withdrawn from this week's event in Cincinnati.
She now faces going into the U.S. Open without any tournament play, barring a last-minute wildcard at New Haven the week before.
