Eugenie Bouchard not only took a thumping from Petra Kvitova in the Wuhan Open final, she gave herself one as well. One forehand forced Bouchard to take a medical treatment during the match.

"I hit a forehand and hit my left hand with the racquet, hitting my middle finger, so I was a little surprised at myself that I have hit a million forehands," she said, "and I still can't hit one without hitting myself.”

Bouchard, who lost the match 6-3 6-4, said the injury did not affect her play, noting that she performed better in the second set following the treatment.

"I could still, you know, with tape and adrenaline, still play as I normally would, but it's pretty painful now," she said.
