Perhaps it had to do with squandering a 3-0 lead in the first set. Maybe it was a result of being outplayed by his less flashy but ultimately just-plain-better elder. Then again, it no doubt stemmed from blowing another lead, up 5-2 in the fourth set only to lose it 7-5.

All these factors combined for a racquet smash for the ages perpetrated by Grigor Dimitrov ahead of going down to Andy Murray by a final count of 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 7-5. Let's get right to the clip:

Granted, Dimitrov's acting out doesn't hold a candle to some frustrated racquet-abuse instances in tennis. See these instant classics from action Down Under:

Some find racquet smashes reflect gross inabilities to contain emotions, while others see them as healthy, entirely human examples of releasing pent-up anger. If you're in the latter camp (or even the former), what have been your favorite racquet smashes in tennis to date, or specifically at the Aussie Open over time? The so-called Happy Slam certainly isn't exempt from violence against racquets.
