She continued, thanking coach Carlos Rodriguez, her physiotherapist, and then her husband, Shan "Dennis" Jiang: "Thanks for him [for giving] up everything just traveling with me to be my hitting partner. Fix the drinks, fix the racquet. So he do a lot of jobs. So thanks a lot, you are a nice guy." The crowd erupted with laughter and applause, and Li waited that out like the seasoned pro she is at this point, sizing up the last shot, delivering her final verbal volley: "And, also, you are so lucky, [to] find me.”
Later, as Steve Tignor reported, Li added this in a room full of media members and cameras: "I was thinking maybe I speak too much. No? That’s good. Maybe next time I should speak even longer.”
In more ways than one, Li Na, please keep it coming.
