Oops, she did it again. After a star turn on Chelsea Handler's late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately, Maria Sharapova returned to the host's guest seat on September 10 to re-introduce her candy line, Sugarpova, to the world. The brand was previously a "mom-and-pop type of shop" when the WTA's No. 3 player last visited, Sharapova said, and has since gone global. She and Handler hit it off during her prior appearance, and the comedienne actually sat in Sharapova's player's box at the London Olympics, only to see her be defeated soundly in the final against Serena Williams. So yes, let the tabloids have a field day with that one: "Yuri Sharapov Is in Like with Chelsea Handler." The interview—and I'm using that term loosely—hits all the right rapid-fire notes. Handler professes her love for Sugarpova's "flirty sour" flavor, to which Sharapova quips, "Oh, I wonder why you like that one." The host pulls one of the candies from the bag only to say, "What the [bleep] is this? It's a star." The comic timing is seamless. Well done, both.
