Across the globe from her Florida home, Venus Williams endeared herself to her Indian fans this past week. She dished on her favorite food, bhindi masala, and then not only strutted the stage at the Raptors Ball in a bright, gold-trimmed sari, but also danced a few moves to Bollywood star Deepika Padukone's "Lovely" at a charity event. The occasion was the Raptors Ball, a swanky Champions Tennis League party. "Venus insisted on walking the ramp to a Bollywood number, and we chose the track," said one organizer.

In related news, Venus, ranked No. 18 on the WTA tour going into 2015, has signed on for the new World Team Tennis season, the league's 40th. She and the Washington Kastles will vie for their fifth straight WTT title; the WTT draft is in March, and Venus will turn 35 years young in June. That's Venus: a pillar of the sport, and amazingly reliable after all these years.
