Coming into Friday’s semifinal showdown between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros, prognosticators made their cases for both players. In their assessments of the marquee match-up, it was hard to outline faults for either player—but one concern for Alcaraz came up: could the Spaniard sustain “highlight-reel tennis” over potentially five sets, against perhaps the greatest best-of-five-set player of all time?
