World No. 3 Andy Murray won his first title since last August's Montreal Masters—and beat Novak Djokovic for just the second time in their last 14 meetings—on Sunday in Rome. He topped the world No. 1 and likely French Open favorite on clay, 6-3, 6-3, and he did so in style, as one might in Italy:

This year's three clay-court Masters titles were shared by Rafael Nadal (Monte Carlo), Djokovic (Madrid) and now, Murray. The Scot, who reached the semifinals at each of those tournaments, continues to build an underrated clay-court resume. He had yet to win a title on dirt until last season, but he's a three-time French Open semifinalist and will be one of the biggest obstacles opponents may face next week at Roland Garros.

All and all, it was a lovely and perhaps unexpected present for Murray, who turned 29 today. And you know what that means—birthday cake:
