Caroline Wozniacki has been chosen by Denmark to serve as flag-bearer for her home country in this summer's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. That said, she has her work cut out to get there.

As reported by TENNIS.com over the weekend, Wozniacki needs another Fed Cup appearance to qualify for the impending Olympics, and has represented Denmark in that international event just once since 2011. What remains for her to qualify: a Euro-Africa zonal tie in Egypt come April.

Needless to say, tennis fans can expect to see the great Dane play in that tie, or at least be on hand for it. (The WTA tour released a helpful "Olympics 101" piece recently that breaks down how players qualify.) In announcing her selection, the Danish Olympic Committee rightly noted that the Artist Formerly Known as Sunshine—a U.S. Open finalist and erstwhile No. 1—is one of the "most successful tennis players of the past decade." She will be just the third female among 25 Olympic flag-bearers for Denmark to date.

When she does touch down in Rio, rest assured that Woz will have her full quiver of tricks to take on foes on her favored hard-court surface. Exhibit A: her January "Shot of the Month" on tour, part of a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the expense of Danka Kovinic in Auckland.
