At Queen’s Club, after facing a fellow Brit for the first time in a decade in his quarterfinal win over Aljaz Bedene, Andy Murray had his hands full with another compatriot the following day. Against Kyle Edmund on Friday, the world No. 2 needed three sets to advance, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.

The Scot next faces Marin Cilic, who battled past American Steve Johnson. Murray is the defending champion at Queen's Club, as he looks to pick up some momentum going into Wimbledon with coach Ivan Lendl by his side again.

CoCo Vandeweghe is enjoying an nine-match winning streak on grass this month. The 24-year-old captured her second career title in ’s-Hertogenbosch last week, and upset top seed Agnieszka Radwanska on her way to the semifinals in Birmingham, where she fell to Barbora Strycova.

Thanks to her recent efforts, the No. 32-ranked Vandeweghe is likely to earn a seeding at Wimbledon, which is the site of her best major performance to date (a quarterfinal appearance last year). Meanwhile, Madison Keys beating Carla Suarez Navarro in a third-set tiebreaker to reach the final means she will crack the Top 10.

Dominic Thiem has been billed an ATP #NextGen star, but the 22-year-old’s time seems to be coming faster than anyone expected. He has already played in nine semifinals this year, including at the French Open. The Austrian cracked the Top 10 this month, and won his first-ever grass title in Stuttgart last week.

Federer beat David Goffin in his Friday quarterfinal, and then lost to teenager Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, while Thiem got a walkover in the quarters and then fell to Florian Mayer on Saturday. Zverev is seeking his first-ever ATP title.
