When will Swiatek play her Roland Garros first round?

Iga Swiatek is set to kick off her 2024 Roland Garros campaign on Monday, May 27 against qualifier Léolia Jeanjean.

Where did Swiatek land in the 2024 Roland Garros draw?

The top-seeded double-defending champion Swiatek was dealt a potentially tricky draw, including a potential second-round encounter with former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka. While Osaka has never been the most comfortable on clay, the four-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed an encouraging run at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia before losing to Zheng Qinwen in the fourth round.

Swiatek is in the same quarter as No. 5 seed Marketa Vondrousova, who reached the Roland Garros final in 2019 and won Wimbledon last year. The first seed she can face is No. 29 seed Veronika Kudermetova in the third round; Kudermetova shocked Swiatek on hard courts last fall in Tokyo, and Swiatek responded by ripping through the final two months of 2023, winning the WTA Finals and locking down WTA Player of the Year.

Swiatek went on to win the BNP Paribas Open for the second time, and has only lost one match since the clay-court season began. She carries a 12-match winning streak into Paris after scoring back-to-back titles at the Mutua Madrid Open and Internazionali BNL d'Italia, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in both finals. After Dinara Safina and Serena Williams, Swiatek is the third woman to ever win Madrid and Rome in the same season.

Swiatek will face Jeanjean second up on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Monday.
