  • Seed: 2
  • Career-Best Ranking: 2
  • Age: 22
  • Career Titles: 13
  • Grand Slam Titles: 1 — Australian Open (2024)

When will Sinner play his Roland Garros first round?

Jannik Sinner is set to kick off his 2024 Roland Garros campaign on Monday, May 27 against Christopher Eubanks.

The No. 2-seeded Sinner looks to back up his maiden major victory at the Australian Open with a second straight win in Paris, but arrives onto the terre battue under an injury cloud after pulling out of the Mutua Madrid Open and the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.

How has Sinner performed in 2024 so far?

Ranked as low as No. 17 in February 2023, Sinner began a meteoric rise up the rankings last fall, picking up a pair of ATP 500 titles in Beijing and Vienna with back-to-back wins over Daniil Medvedev, and booking himself a spot at the Nitto ATP Finals where he stunned Novak Djokovic en route to the final.

After leading Team Italy to its first Davis Cup victory since 1976. Sinner began 2024 on fire, dethroning Djokovic in the semifinals of the Australian Open and rallying from two sets down to defeat Medvedev for his first Grand Slam victory.

He has won two more titles since then, including a second Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open.

Since reaching the semifinals of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, Sinner's momentum has stalled due to a hip injury that he began feeling in Madrid. Pulling out of the Caja Magica quarterfinals, he caused worry among fans when he announced he would be withdrawing from his home tournament in Rome.

“I’ll just try to get back to 100 per cent as soon as possible, hopefully trying to play in Paris and then Wimbledon and all the rest,” Sinner said at the time. “We'll take our time, there's no rush and hopefully I can get back very, very soon.”

Where did Sinner land in the 2024 Roland Garros draw?

Sinner anchors the bottom half of the men's singles draw opposite world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, and is in the same quarter as No. 8 seed Hubert Hurkacz (tied 2-2, Sinner leads 1-0 on clay). The first seed SInner can face is No. 32 Cameron Norrie, a former Wimbledon semifinalist who has posted solid results on clay this season with back-to-back third-round appearances in Madrid and Rome.

Sinner will be facing Eubanks for the second time (Sinner leads 1-0) first up on Court Suzanne-Lenglen on Monday.
