I had a brief cell phone conversation with Pete today.  He's on an early morning flight to London tomorrow, so expect some red meat posts from the second week of the Championships.  Seems like he's going to miss all the exciting action from the traditional Wimbledon "Middle Sunday," though.

Oh.  Never mind.

With that, I think we can close the book on the first week of Wimbledon 2008.  To my eyes, Saturday had some interesting tennis, but nothing that we'll remember forever and a day.

On the ATP side of the draw, six of the top 16 seeds have reached R16: Messrs Federer, Nadal, Gasquet, Baghdatis, Murray and Wawrinka.  For the WTA, eight survive: Jankovic, Dementieva, Serena and Venus Williams, Chakvetadze, Radwanska and Szavay.  Monday will set the table for the QFs in both Singles tournaments.

Please continue to discuss tennis related and mildly off topic matters here.  Enjoy Sunday's activities!  Safe trip, Pete.
