Caroline Wozniacki wins a three-hour match 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 6-2 against Flavia Pennetta to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open.
Wozniacki, who came into the tournament not having won consecutive matches again since injuring her ankle at Charleston, last week withdrew from the second match in Warsaw to rest the problem and says it has held up well. "I knew that my ankle was getting better," she said. "I know that I can play some good tennis... I'm happy to be in the quarterfinals."
Wozniacki did, however, get her thigh taped during the match. "I started to feel it a little bit at the end of the first set, so I asked the trainer to come an wrap it up so it wouldn't get worse."
Penetta got treatment on her foot after winning the second set and lost the next two games, and after a temporary rebound, lost the last four games of the match.
