World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki says that while she would rather play on one of Wimbledon’s two main show courts, she was willing to accept being put on Court 2 today. Wozniacki defeated Virginie Razzano in straight sets. Serena Williams was put on Court 2 for her match Thursday, which is unusual for the defending champion. Lindsay Davenport, the 1999 champion, told TENNIS.com she doesn’t believe she was forced off a main court in her 2000 title defense, and it is believed that Maria Sharapova played on one of the two main show courts during her defense of her 2004 title in 2005. In every year since 2008, either four-time champion Serena or five-time champion Venus has been placed on Court 2 when one or the other was defending a title.

"Obviously I think I deserve to play on one of the bigger courts," Wozniacki said. "Obviously, everyone wants to play in there. It's up to the tournament to decide where we're going to play. I just go out there and I try to win. I'm a competitor, so it really doesn't matter. The court is the same and the size is the same. Hopefully my next match I'll have the chance to play on one of the bigger ones…Serena played on Court 2 and she's won here so many times. So if she can play on Court 2, then I guess I can, too."
