By reaching the semifinals of Dubai, Caroline Wozniacki will return to the top of the WTA rankings on Monday, having dropped to No. 2 for a week when she was overtaken by Kim Clijsters.

Wozniacki is projected to hold the top spot for at least four weeks—through March 20—which is the conclusion of the tournament at Indian Wells. Wozniacki will also play Doha next week, while Clijsters is off until Indian Wells.

The 20-year-old, who has yet to win a major, will begin her 19th week at No. 1 and will pass Jelena Jankovic (18 weeks at No. 1), and eventually Clijsters (20 weeks) and Tracy Austin (21 weeks) by the time Indian Wells ends. She’s defending runner-up points there.—Matthew Cronin
