ISTANBUL (AP) Players at the WTA Championships in Istanbul say their thoughts are with those affected by Turkey's devastating earthquake.

Sunday's quake happened in eastern Turkey, far from the tournament location in the west. Women's Tennis Association officials on Monday briefed the eight elite players on the disaster.

Second-ranked Maria Sharapova says she has received many phone calls and emails expressing concern.

CEO Stacey Allaster says the WTA will do what it can to support Turkey ``in some small way through the power of sport.''
