Shvedova was flying home to be with her 1-year-old twins after the Premier Mandatory event in Indian Wells was cancelled due to a local case of COVID-19 in the Palm Desert area. Amidst a time of confusion and uncertainty, the 32-year-old's plans of reuniting with family during this worrisome time will be pushed back as she goes through an isolated quarantine.

"It's very challenging for all of us and I think you want to keep some semblance of normalcy but also be smart," said Tennis Channel commentator Paul Annacone.

The two-time doubles major champion was looking forward to competing on the tour again and was set to play alongside Vania King at the upcoming event in Charleston. However, Shvedova's 2020 campaign will be put on hold as the world fights against the unfurling virus.
