Hi everyone. This week's tournaments (the ATP in Washington and the WTA in Los Angeles) continue, and from today I'm looking forward to seeing some of the action on T.V. at last. We've had no coverage here in the UK since the last Davis Cup weekend; if I'd been trying to break my tennis addiction, recent weeks would have provided a perfect opportunity to do it.

Today there's a strong lineup in the Washington quarterfinals, where amongst others Andy Roddick meets Ivo Karlovic and Robin Soderling faces Juan Martin Del Potro. In L.A. yesterday Dinara Safina lost to Jie Zheng over three sets, and Sam Stosur defeated Ana Ivanovic (the two winners will now play each other in today's quarterfinal round). Meanwhile Maria Sharapova's progress through the draw continued yesterday, as she advanced in three sets over Alona Bondarenko. She'll play Urszula Radwanska next.
