Hi all. This is your daily thread for tennis talk, or anything else you would like to discuss.
Today congratulations are due to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who won his first career title in Bangkok. In a rematch of this year's Australian Open final, he beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets. In Beijing, Andy Roddick took three sets to claim the title over Dudi Sela, and Jelena Jankovic defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova. Maria Kirilenko won the title in Seoul. In the coming week, the ATP tour moves on to Tokyo and Metz; there is also a WTA tournament in Tokyo, as well as events in Stuttgart and Tashkent.
Congratulations are also due to TW's very own Jackie, who, at 6.03 p.m. on the 15th September 2008, became the poster of the "half a millionth" comment in TennisWorld, in that day's Monday Net Post. Some months back, Master Ace posted the "quarter of a millionth" comment. I don't know whether prizes will be forthcoming for these milestones in future - I'm just glad that after taking the time to work out who had made the historic comment, the honour goes to a TW regular and not a troll or an anonymous lurker.
For now, this picture is all that I can offer on such short notice. You see, Jackie's comment just happened to mention that "I want to bear Gilles' love child." Perhaps TW is overdue another "Who's Hott?" thread?
Enjoy the rest of your day.
