ZipRecruiter Player Resume: Stefanos Tsitsipas' burgeoning career

In 2018, then-19-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas made history at the Rogers Cup when he became the youngest player to defeat four Top 10 players in a single tournament, taking out Dominic Thiem (No. 8), Novak Djokovic (No. 10), Alexander Zverev (No. 3) and Kevin Anderson (No. 6) on his way to his first career ATP Masters 1000 final.

"I feel very proud for me, myself, and my country,” Tsitsipas said after his victory over Djokovic. “I'm putting Greece more deep into the map of tennis.”

Little did he know how deep he would go.

Three months later, the young Greek took home the Next Gen ATP Finals trophy. A year later, he closed out his 2019 season with a title run at another season-ending tournament, the ATP Finals, for the biggest title of his career.

While Tsitsipas still seeks one of tennis' biggest titles—a Grand Slam—he's getting closer. He's reached the final four at a major each of the last three years, most recently at the Australian Open, when he came from two sets down to stun Rafael Nadal in Rod Laver Arena.

"I wasn't really thinking about a lot of things," Tsitsipas said about the deficit he would erase. "Nothing was going through my head. How would I describe myself? Nirvana. Just, like, there.

"Playing, not thinking. I was thinking a little bit, but I was mainly focused on each single serve, each single shot.

Off the court, Tsitsipas has been documenting his travels on his YouTube channel (with 171k followers) since 2018. In February, he collaborated with Tennis Channel to launch a new digital video series, Dear Fans.

At just 22, Tsitsipas’ resume is already well-balanced, but with plenty of room to grow.
