Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff return to Roland Garros quarterfinals with three-set rally

Last year’s Roland Garros women’s doubles finalists Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff returned to the quarterfinals Sunday. A visual story of their win over Marta Kostyuk and Elena-Gabriela Ruse:

The second seeds saw an early break advantage go to waste in the first set...

… and the Ukrainian-Romanian duo would eventually take it, 7-6 (4), on Court Simonne-Mathieu.

Gauff and Pegula bounced back with four straight games, a cushion that proved significant in leveling the clash.

There was high-flying shot-making...

… some of which didn’t quite go to plan…

… but all was OK for the Americans…

… as they wrapped up a 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 victory.

The two went down the autograph line…

… before enjoying the stroll back to the locker room.
